Best Garden Plants for Connoisseurs
The best 100 plants from my collection of over 3,000 garden gems
I created this book for people like me; true plantaholics that love to grow plants that other people don’t have.
If you love plants and want to grow something other than common ones like daylilies, hosta and roses, this book is for you. It describes 100 of my favorite plants (perennials, bulbs, vines, trees and shrubs) providing interesting background information as well as detailed cultural advice. The more than 350 color pictures will help you select your new favorite garden gems.
I grow or have grown every plant in this book, so they are not so rare that you can’t find them, but you’d be hard pressed to find any garden that grows them all. 99% of the pictures are taken in my garden, a 6 acre private botanical garden called Aspen Grove Gardens.
The plants in this book meet several criteria:
- They look good.
- They are not weedy – I hate plants that seed everywhere.
- They are low maintenance.
- They have grown and flowered in my garden for at least 3 years and most have been around for more than 5 years.
- They are relatively easy to obtain, but they’re not common.
